Camp Wortman

The Camp Wortman facility is located just south of Hartland Christian Camp’s main campus, adjacent to Hartland’s original 320-acre property.  It offers a rustic tent camping self-serve option and the ability to prepare your own meals.  Camp Wortman is roughly 80 acres with a lodge (dining hall and kitchen), creek, hiking trails, two outdoor amphitheaters, and breathtaking views of the Sierras and San Juaquin Valley.

Originally a boy scout camp, Hartland acquired this property in July of 2020.  Updates will be made available here as we continue to improve the property.

FACILITIES

The Lodge: The Lodge provides indoor dining space for up to 60 people and an additional 24 on the attached covered deck area.

Kitchen: When renting the Lodge, the kitchen facility is also available for use by your group.  It has running water, a standard refrigerator/freezer combo (similar to a home unit), a six-burner stove, a small griddle, a broiler, shelves, and counter space.

Campsites: There are multiple rustic-style small and large group campsites equipped with fire pits and picnic tables.  Currently, we have three main group sites developed and available for use.

No RVs/Tent Trailers: No RVs or Tent Trailers are allowed on site (or on the Hartland Main Campus property if using Camp Wortman).

Picnic Area: Picnic tables are located near the Lodge, with seating for approximately 60 people.

Restrooms: The Lodge is equipped with a toilet and two shower stalls.  Twin toilet facilities are located on the dirt road just north of the Lodge.  In addition, there are twin solar showers and another twin toilet facility near the Archery area, along the dirt road that leads to the north of the camp.
Between these facilities, there are a combined total of four showers and five toilets.  One recommendation is to make the northern facilities available to men and the south for women if you have a blended group.

Recreation: Recreation activities include gaga ball, a creek, hiking trails, tetherball, corn hole, tire swing, and volleyball—more to come.  Please note: None of the Hartland Main Campus activities or facilities are available to those renting the Wortman Campus, they are separate sites, and the Main Hartland Campus is off-limits to Camp Wortman guests.

MEETING SPACES

The Lodge: The Lodge can be used as a meeting space and includes tables and chairs.  Power is available in the Lodge.  The Lodge is equipped with ceiling fans as well as portable fans.
Outdoor Amphitheaters: Two amphitheaters provide stunning views of the Sierras and San Joaquin Valley.  The large amphitheater features two fire pits near the stage, providing limited light for evening services.
Fire Pit: A large fire pit is located approximately 40 yards north of the Lodge, with log seating around it.  Please check with the office on whether fire restrictions prevent bonfire usage at the time of your stay.

FEES

Per Person Fee: There is a per-person nightly rate of $5 (This includes day-use guests).

Lodge: Use of the Lodge, which contains a kitchen and meeting room, costs $25 per day, in addition to the per-person fee.  A cleaning deposit may be required for the use of this facility.  Please check with the Hartland Office for details.
A typical weekend event would cost $10 per person starting on Friday and ending on Sunday.  If the Lodge is requested, there would be a $75 fee for the weekend.  When departing, we ask that guests leave the Lodge, kitchen, and camp property clean.

Meals: Meals are not provided at this facility.  Groups will need to bring food and prepare their own meals.

Self-Serve: The nature of the facility is that of being a self-serve location, which is why we are able to offer such a low rate for use.  Hartland Christian Camp staff will have the site prepared for your arrival.  Once you’ve checked in, your group will be responsible for maintaining the grounds, checking and tidying up the restrooms (restocking toilet paper from our supplies), maintaining meeting spaces, and keeping the Lodge and kitchen (if rented) clean and organized during your stay.  Supplies such as trash bags, general cleaning supplies, a mop/bucket, and rags will be made available for this purpose.  You will also provide your own camp nurse/EMT for your stay and treat any medical issues for your guests on-site; this includes making emergency calls to 911 or transport to the hospital (if not using an ambulance).

SAFETY

Nurse/EMT: Your group will provide their own EMT/Nurse during your stay and tend to any camper medical needs, including communication with EMS (911) and/or transport down to the nearest hospital for treatment.  Hartland Christian Camp does not provide this service as part of your stay and does not maintain medical staff.
