What is the Gospel?

  • Is there a God?
  • If there is a God, can we know Him?
  • Why are we even here?
  • Is there a purpose for our lives?
  • What happens when we die?
  • If you died today, are you 100% sure you would go to heaven?
  • Can we ever be good enough to make it to heaven?

If you’re unsure about the answers to these questions, we encourage you to read more. The answers to all these questions and more are found in the Bible. So keep reading to see what the Bible has to say.

We’re all sinners

As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one. Romans 3:10
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. Romans 5:12

The price of sin

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23
There is a way, which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 14:12
For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36

The Good News

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. 1 Timothy 1:15
Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isaiah 1:18
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

What do I do?

That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. Acts 3:19
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. Acts 16:31
The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel. Mark 1:15
He who believes on the Son has everlasting life: and he who does not believe the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. John 3:36
For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8,9
Most assuredly, I say to you, He who hears my word and believes on Him who sent me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. John 5:24
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die.” John 11:25, 26

Respond to God’s call

Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him. Revelation 3:20
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2

Pray
There are no magic words. In your own way, confess to God that you are a sinner and have violated His commands. Repent of your sin; turn away from it and toward God. Tell Him that you believe Christ died for your sins and paid the penalty of death you deserved and cleansed you from all your sins. Invite the Lord Jesus Christ to be your Lord (giving Him absolute control) and Savior (trusting Him to save you from Hell). Ask Him to help you surrender every part of your life to Him daily and live the rest of your life for His glory, not your own.

What’s next?

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5.1
My peace I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
Thou shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Matthew 22:37
And having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. Romans 6:18
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28:19
I go to prepare a place for you and, if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am there you may be also. John 14:2, 3
