Hartland partners with RNs, EMTs, and MDs each year to serve our campers. We offer both paid and volunteer positions across many of our sponsored events. Serving on our medical team is an incredible way to enjoy time away in the mountains while participating in the ministry happening at camp every day!

Our Facility & Emergency Backup
Our Basic First Aid Facility is equipped with the supplies needed for standard first aid care. For anything beyond basic care, clear transport protocols are in place:

EMS Response: Local Fire Department EMS is approximately 15–20 minutes away in most cases.

Minor Injuries: Church groups transport minor cases off the mountain for urgent care.

Severe Emergencies: Ground ambulance or Medevac transport is utilized for any serious emergency.

Basic First Aid At Camp
What does a typical day look like? Most of the time, our medical team handles minor ailments: cuts and scrapes, sprains and wraps, insect or plant irritations, and dehydration. Band-Aids, Gatorade, ice packs—and the occasional Otter Pop—are a normal part of the role! On occasion, issues may arise from pre-existing medical conditions or recreational bumps and falls.
We never ask our medical teams to practice beyond their scope of care and rely on local EMS should anything advanced arise.
Medication & Guest Support by Event Type

Adult & Family Camps: The Nurse/EMT is on call to provide guests with basic supplies (ice packs, bandages, etc.). We do not handle or distribute camper medications during these events.

Youth Camps: Nurses and EMTs administer basic first aid and help campers manage and take their prescribed medications. Hartland receives medical release forms for all campers with clearly labeled medications and instructions from their primary care physician. Medications, including limited OTC items, are securely stored in the first aid station and distributed on a routine schedule (meals, bedtime, etc.).
